Making financial donations now easier than ever before

Those who are looking to make tax-deductible donations before the year ends may do so by donating to the Acord Food Pantry, which has made making financial donations easier than ever before.
The Acord Food Pantry now accepts donations online at its Web site, acordfoodpantry.org, from Visa, MasterCard and American Express accounts. The donations can be made in any denomination.
“It’s really simple, and it’s secure,” said Jen Wolcott, manager of the Acord Food Pantry.
To make filing taxes a bit easier, the Acord Food Pantry Web site automatically gives a receipt with its tax identification number, so donors can use that when filing their taxes.
The financial donations are used predominantly to purchase food from the Merrimack Valley and Greater Boston Food Banks, which make food available to food pantries for about 20 percent of the cost of retail, or grocery stores. The donations are also used to pay for the operating expenses of the Food Pantry, and transportation to and from the food banks.
Wolcott added that the Food Pantry is grateful for financial donations in any denomination.
“Even small donations are greatly appreciated,” she said. There is no minimum — or maximum — amount that the Food Pantry requires from donors.
Another feature offered by the Web site is to set up monthly withdrawals to donate to the Acord Food Pantry. Someone who would like to make a large donation and spread it out over a period of any time may do so that way.
The Acord Food Pantry continues to accept cash donations during its open hours of operation — Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon — as well as donations in the form of checks, which can be mailed to Acord Food Pantry, P.O. Box 2203, South Hamilton, MA 01982. The treasurer will provide a receipt and the tax information to those who request it for filing.
